Pohanka’s Pay it Forward program was founded in the midst of the recession in 2009 by its VP/Dealer Operator, Sandy Fitzgerald-Angello. The recession hit the automotive community hard, especially on Delmarva where over 30% of new car franchises actually went out of business between 2007 and 2009. All the while non-profits needed our support more than ever. Advertising budgets dried up and non-profits were the first to be cut by most businesses. Instead of cutting charitable giving, Sandy did just the opposite and started Pohanka Pays it Forward. Since its foundation in 2009, Pohanka of Salisbury has donated over $3,500,000.00 to 750 charitable organizations and counting.

Pohanka continues paying it forward every day to charities all across the Eastern Shore. It is Sandy’s belief along with our employees that nothing is more important than giving back to the community that we all work, live and raise our families in.

AJ Angello is representing both Pohanka of Salisbury and his own business A4 Training during the “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign with Pohanka of Salisbury this October. AJ opened A4 Health and Fitness Training in the Spring of 2021 on the Pohanka of Salisbury complex and has never looked back. AJ now serves many of the Pohanka employees, members of the community, and local baseball and football teams for private physical training.  What had started as a one-man operation has now blossomed into a team of six personal trainers and a physical therapist. During the month of October, our Pays it Forward program is focussed on bringing awareness and raising money to end breast cancer.
